Getting a laptop or PC is an essential purchase for many people heading off to university or another form of education these days. With tuition fees and living costs higher than ever, saving money on the tech you need will be a big help, or even make it feasible. Fortunately, you can save up to 15% with Dell’s student discount deal.
Not only will you need a machine for working on, but it’ll also be a great way to keep in touch with friends and family. If you don’t need a laptop like the XPS 13, you could use the voucher code for an all-in-one, a monitor, or something else.
Before going on to any details on how to get the discount, it’s only sensible to outline who is eligible. Dell has made it all quite simple, in that any student in college or university, including vocational schools, can get a discount. All you need is to provide your student email and a copy of your student ID.
If for some reason, you don’t have a student email address, you can send the application along with proof of enrolment on your course (or a scan of a student ID card) to dell_advantage_student@dell.com and once this is verified a voucher for the discount will be provided.
Other forms of accepted verification include a school certificate or certain correspondence from the academic organisation. If unsure, contact Dell via the email address above to enquire. One thing to know: an NUS card doesn’t count as a verification document.
Dell also says it’s available to “Corporate employees or Teachers & Academic staff.” and the program is available in a long list of European countries as well as the USA and Canada.
It’s a lot easier to get Dell’s student discount than you might think. All you have to do is visit the Dell Advantage for Students website, enter your student email address then click Submit.
Dell will then issue a voucher that will be sent directly to your email. This can then be used on the Dell site to make a purchase.
The coupon is available in 16 countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States and Canada.

Once you have received the voucher, you’ll want to put it to good use. So, head to the Dell website and find the laptop, desktop or other product you want to buy. There are minimal restrictions and no minimum spend; at the time of writing, only seven ‘S’ model monitors are excluded.
However, you can only use the discount on one unit per order – ie a single laptop. You also can’t combine it with any other discount codes.
Add it to your shopping basket, along with any configuration options you want, then when you reach the checkout page you’ll see there’s a box marked Promotional Code. Enter the coupon code here then click Apply.
One word of warning, though. The code can only be used once, so only click the Apply button once you’re sure that your order is correct.
All that’s left to do after that is to fill out your details, make the payment, then your new Dell device should be with you in the next few days.
